  • Retiring life!

I can’t imagine I can lead a life like this when I am 24 years old, waking up whenever I want, having a delicious full breakfast, reading books with light music and gentle wind, lying relaxingly and being massaged by sun, sitting on the roof and appreciating sunset, having fun and chitchatting with people from all walks of life.

What a retiring life it is!

P.s The above things only happen when I have day off. Of course when I need to work, I have to wake up at 5:30am, wait for toilet, rush to fill the stomach and work 8 hours a day packing capsicum like a robot……

  • Risk of being stupid

I am a farmer now! Not working in the field, instead, I work under a shed for packing capsicums. That’s easy but boring. What I need to do is to separate capsicums to different classes depending on their sizes, sunburns and marks etc. Every second, it is all about good or bad and large, medium or small. In one day, we can pack tones of capsicum. I think I must be the person who touches the most capsicums in life among my friends! And there is a risk in the job. That is I may become stupid! It is because I don’t need to use my brain when I work! Phoebe, keep thinking something and using your brain. Don’t be stupid!!!

  • New record!

It broke my record! I took greyhound bus for 19 hours continuously! Actually it was long enough for me to fly back home. Crazy!

After confirming the expenses and job details with the working hostel, Angela and I decided to move to Bowen, one thousand and more kilometers from Brisbane. We set off from 12 at noon on 26th of September, and arrived at 8 o’clock on the 27th morning. It was not as fun as I imagined! During the long night, I couldn’t sleep well as it was difficult to find a good posture making me comfortable, no matter lying down or sitting straight, crossed legs or released arms, there was still something wrong.

Luckily, I was not alone, instead, Angela was with me! Silly ideas and laughter made the journey interesting. In the midnight, the bus stopped to gave us 20 minutes break. We were excited as there was a Macdonald nearby. We looked at each other with shining eyes, smiled and after two seconds, we ran to the Macdonald in a rocket’s speed at the same time. Unfortunately, it closed! Yet, it had 24 hours drive-thr service which allow people buy food without dropping out cars. We pretended to be cars, line up in a queue of cars and hoped to buy food successfully. But when we ordered food, the sales assistant said, ‘I am sorry, you are not allowed to buy food as you don’t drive a car with you!’ Oh no, our plan failed! Then we bought some cream rice and a fruit box in other convenient store, and ate it secretly like thieves in the bus.

One more benefit spending whole night in the bus was that I could see the beautiful scenery which I had no chance to see without the ride. In the midnight, I luckily saw starry sky and a big round full moon following the bus. At dawn, I saw smoky fields and later on, a beautiful sun rise in the country side!

But it was probably the last long road trip I preferred, because as a whole it was too tiring and exhausting!

    Traveling Tips:
Apart from greyhound, Premier Motor Service is another choice for long distant bus. Greyhound is more expensive but has more points/stops and good timetable. On the other hand, Premier Motor Service is much cheaper but with less points/stops and strange timetable. Choose what you want base your need!

  • Damn rude man!

‘It’s your fault! It’s your fault! Why don’t you come earlier to extend your room?’ The rude man pointed his finger to my nose and yelled. I stood there and could feel blood was boiling in my body.

‘Excuse me, sir. I want to extend my room for one more week.’ I asked courteously with a smile as usual.

‘Ok, what is your name and room number?’ the receptionist man asked officially.

‘Tai Chui Fan and room 101’

‘Your room will be full tomorrow, you have to move to another room.’ He said indifferently.

‘OMG! I have lived here already one and half month. Could you please help me to check whether I can change the room with the new comer?’

‘No, you can’t.’ he shook his head and said, ‘ What you can do is to bring out your luggage, check out tomorrow and check in for another room.’

‘You know, I lived here so long and therefore have many stuff over the room. It would be a bit difficult for me to pack my big luggage to move it up and down.’ I said sincerely and hoped to persuade him to make some changes for me.

‘That’s your problem, I can’t do anything for you,’ he said impatiently.

‘Is the new girl traveling alone?’ I asked.

‘It’s not your business. I won’t tell you.’ He exclaimed angrily.

‘If the girl comes alone, I think you can change the new girl to another room. Actually she won’t be bothered as she won’t be separated with her friends and more importantly she doesn’t know which room she’s going to move in.’ I said.

‘You don’t have the privilege! Why do you think you have the privilege to exploit other’s right? It’s your fault! It’s your fault! Why don’t you come earlier to extend your room?’ The receptionist guy pointed his finger to my nose and yelled. I stood there and could feel blood was boiling in my body.

‘It’s the only solution for you, check out tomorrow, bring down your luggage and move to the room 115! That’s it! If you don’t like it, you can check out and leave tomorrow! Actually 90% of hostels in Brisbane is full already as there will a big event tomorrow,’ he barked.

What the rude man he was!

What could I say? I really want to leave immediately and was not willing to spend one more second in this disgusting hell. But Angela, my friend is here and we will leave a few days later, thus I drew a deep breath and paid the rent unwillingly.

The next day, when I prepared to move my luggage downstairs, I saw another receptionist was on duty. Then I told her my situation, and she immediately showed her understanding and helped me to fix the problem in a few minutes! Thanks Lord! I met an angel !

    Traveling Tips:

Booking one or two nights for your accommodation is all right, you can decide extend or not after viewing the living condition of the hostel in person. More than that, weekly payment is much cheaper than booking in the internet!

  • Falling in love with Movie world and Byron Bay

I couldn’t imagine how gorgeous the trip of Gold Coast was!

One of the most memorable light points was Warner Brother’s Movie World. In the Hollywood Stunt Driver Showcase, we witnessed classic Hollywood car chases and car crashes and even actively participated in a robbery crime scene. We could not help laughing and screaming when we were sitting in the exhilarating and hair raising rollercoaster. I could not forget that the spooky coaster most. It was an indoor rollercoaster. In fact, it looked like a haunting house, full of unexpectation. In darkness, I was pushed in a high speed with amazing laser lighting and sound effects. Suddenly, a big axe dropped in front of you, scared you to die. And suddenly, it stopped for a few seconds and unexpectedly it fell backward swiftly like pulling into a back hole. Besides coaster, I did take picture with Batman and Hell drivers. What an exciting and fairytale day!

Apart from that, we went to Nimbin, a stylish small town where full of hippies and drug users. The people there actually are more nice and passionate than city dwellers. And of course Byron Bay was in our visiting list. We climbed up to the light house and reached the most east point of Australia! That’s cool!

One of the most vital elements making the trip unforgettable was your partner! Nana was a really good travelling partner. We kept laughing, sharing and having a lot of fun during the entire journey.
